Code of Conduct
Design Recess is built on creativity, curiosity, and community. We want everyone—attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, staff, and partners—to feel welcome, respected, and safe to participate.
By joining us, you agree to help create an environment where everyone can learn, connect, and enjoy the experience.
We Ask Everyone To
-
Treat others with kindness, respect, and professionalism.
-
Welcome different perspectives and experiences.
-
Be thoughtful in your words and actions.
-
Respect personal boundaries and consent.
-
Help create an inclusive, supportive environment for everyone.
Unacceptable Behavior
We do not tolerate harassment, discrimination, intimidation, unwanted physical contact, disruptive behavior, or any conduct that makes others feel unsafe or unwelcome.
Speakers
Our speakers make Design Recess possible by sharing their stories, insights, and experiences. We ask that you create space for thoughtful conversation, welcome questions and differing perspectives, and help foster an environment where everyone feels included and inspired. Please be mindful of your scheduled time and work with our team to keep the day running smoothly.
Sponsors & Exhibitors
Our sponsors and exhibitors are an important part of the Design Recess community. We encourage you to engage attendees with authenticity, generosity, and respect. Please be mindful of personal boundaries, obtain permission before taking photos or collecting information, and help create a welcoming experience for everyone.
Volunteers & Staff
Our volunteers and staff are here to help make the day memorable. We ask that you lead with kindness, professionalism, and empathy while supporting attendees, speakers, and sponsors. If concerns arise, please respond thoughtfully and help us maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all.
Creative Work & Intellectual Property
Please respect the creative work and intellectual property of speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, and fellow attendees. Do not reproduce, distribute, or commercially use presentations, artwork, or shared materials without permission.
Accessibility
We are committed to creating an event that is welcoming and accessible. If you need accommodations or encounter barriers during the event, please let a member of the Design Recess team know.
Media Release
By attending Design Recess, you acknowledge that photographs, video, and audio recordings may be captured throughout the event. These images and recordings may be used by AIGA Atlanta and Design Recess for promotional, educational, and archival purposes across print, digital, social media, and future event materials.
If you prefer not to be photographed or recorded, please let a member of the Design Recess team know when you check in. While we'll do our best to accommodate your request, we cannot guarantee that you won't appear in crowd or incidental event photography.
If Something Happens
If you experience or witness behavior that doesn't align with these expectations, please let a member of the Design Recess team know. We'll take concerns seriously, respond promptly, and handle reports as respectfully and confidentially as possible.
Anyone asked to stop inappropriate behavior is expected to do so immediately. Design Recess organizers reserve the right to take appropriate action—including verbal warnings, removal from sessions, or removal from the event without refund—to protect the safety and experience of our community.
Anti-Retaliation
We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good faith. Thank you for helping make Decess Recess a welcoming place for every creative.
